A wonderfully distinctive voice
With influences
from love of Jazz Blues, Funk, Fusion and Soul
Suzanne Mellard
Suzanne must be one of the most talented but widely undiscovered jazz vocalists in the UK.
Growing up listening to her Parents Swing and Jazz albums, also with her two brothers Soul discs and Beatles albums. Suzie had soaked up a lot of great songwriting and vocal performances by her early teens.

Her rich dynamic contralto voice surprises, coming from her small frame, it seperates her from many other female artists.

Those early Influences from the wonderful improvisations of Sarah Vaughan, to the energy of Otis Redding, the soul of Gladys Knight and the 'scatting' of Eddie Jefferson, Al Jarreau, Mark Murphy and more recently Kurt Elling, have given her a wonderfully distintive female voice.

Darius Brubeck commented “The Ideal Jazz Voice. Intimate and rich in the low range with great control in all registers.”
Suzanne has been signed to WEA records and performed all over the UK and europe with many leading Jazz Musicians including Sir John Dankworth.
